Biography

Dr Michelle O’Driscoll is a Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy at the School of Pharmacy, University College Cork and a Research Fellow with the National Suicide Research Foundation. Her research focuses on suicide prevention and mental health, health literacy, healthcare education, and medicines optimisation, with a strong emphasis on implementation science, co‑design and policy‑relevant research.

She has published over 30 peer‑reviewed journal articles across clinical pharmacy, health services research and the scholarship of teaching and learning, and has secured more than €1.2 million in competitive research funding as Principal Investigator or Co‑Investigator. Her work is published in high‑quality international journals and has informed national and international policy, professional standards and educational frameworks, including outputs cited in European and global policy documents.

Dr O’Driscoll leads nationally commissioned initiatives in suicide prevention education and health literacy, including the design, delivery and evaluation of a nationally implemented undergraduate suicide prevention programme and associated train‑the‑trainer model now embedded across multiple higher education institutions. She has a strong international collaborative profile and works closely with governmental, professional and academic partners.

She is an experienced doctoral supervisor, having supervised PhD candidates to completion and currently supervising an active interdisciplinary cohort. In teaching, she coordinates and contributes extensively across undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programmes, integrating research‑informed, innovative pedagogy and interprofessional learning.
