Biography

I graduated from Applied Psychology in UCC in 2001, having completed a degree in Medical Science in 1998. Having done some training in counselling skills, I won a PhD studentship under the PRTLI3 programme for research in the area of cognitive function in older age, and completed this PhD in 2008. Since then, my research interests have continued to include psychology of older age, but have expanded into new areas and have become more social in orientation. Currently, my areas of research interest include: Ageism and elder abuseSexuality in older ageThe right to dieWellbeing across the lifespanSocial support across the lifespanCoaching psychologyHaving held the position of Research Coordinator of the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology for a number of years, I have now moved to the role of Co-Director of the MA in Applied Psychology (Positive & Coaching Psychology), with a particular role in the development of research in the field. I have also completed training as a Coaching Psychologist (specifically the H Dip in Coaching Psychology), and see some clients.
