Biography
Dr. Nikolaos Naziris holds a degree in Pharmacy, an MSc in Industrial Pharmacy, and a PhD in Pharmacy (focused on Pharmaceutical Technology and Nanotechnology) from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) in Greece. He served as Postdoctoral Researcher at the NKUA from 2019 to 2021, Adjunct Professor at the University of Lodz in Poland from 2021 to 2022, and Director of Operations at Doctor’s Labs, In Touch Health Co. LTD, a food supplement manufacturing facility in Greece from 2022 to 2025.
He has participated in several European and national research projects focused on the development of advanced nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems and therapeutic formulations. Additionally, he has been in close collaboration with the Greek pharmaceutical industry on projects aimed at creating innovative nutraceutical products. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Brendan Griffin's group, working on the development of medicines for low-income countries using artificial intelligence and machine learning tools, a project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Research Interests
My research interests lie at the intersection of three broad areas: 1. Pharmaceutical technology and Nanotechnology, formulation and industrial applications, 2. Biological models for evaluating the toxicity and effectiveness of drugs and formulations, 3. Application of computational approaches and especially artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) for developing and producing pharmaceutical products.
I focus on design and development of medicines and advanced therapeutic systems, including the formulation of small-molecule drugs, proteins, and genetic material into innovative delivery platforms that enhance therapeutic efficacy and improve patient outcomes. My overarching aim is to contribute to improved diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for complex diseases by leveraging cutting-edge drug delivery technologies and biomaterial-based solutions.
