Biography
- Professor and Head of the Department of French at University College Cork;
- Deputy Director, UCC Future Humanities Institute;
- Director of Research for the School of Languages, Literatures & Cultures;
- Director of the Centre for Advanced Studies in Languages and Cultures (CASiLaC);
- Co-convenor of the Political Technologies research cluster within that Centre.
I warmly welcome all inquiries, especially from current or prospective students at any level, other researchers, the media and members of the public.
Research Interests
Professor Davis researches political technologies in contemporary French philosophy, theory and literature; the psychedelic humanities; queer theory; conspiracy theory and mis/disinformation discourse.
- Modern and contemporary French philosophy, theory and literature, in particular the work of Jacques Rancière;
- The psychedelic humanities;
- Queer theory: Hatred of Sex (2022), co-authored with Tim Dean, argues that our society is organised around an aversion to the disordering effects of sex;
- Policing the digital: conspiracy theory and the politics of the mis/disinformation agenda.
