Biography
Dr. Peter Cleary is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting. He has been lecturing in UCC in the area of Management Accounting since 2002. A graduate of UCC (BComm -1997 & MBS in Management Information & Managerial Accounting Systems - 1999) and a qualified Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA), Dr. Cleary worked for organisations in both Ireland and the USA prior to becoming an academic. Dr. Cleary completed his doctoral dissertation at the University of Limerick in 2007 which focused on the role of management accounting in knowledge-intensive firms. Dr. Cleary's research has been published in a range of international journals such as the British Accounting Review, Qualitative Research in Accounting & Management, the Journal of Intellectual Capital, the International Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Performance Evaluation and the Journal of Human Resource Costing and Accounting. He has also presented papers at a range of both national and international conferences. Research Interests
Dr. Peter Cleary's primary research interest focuses on the relationship between Management Accounting and intangible assets (i.e. Intellectual Capital), and to this end, he has published extensively in this area. Dr. Cleary's other research interests include; the role of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in e-business, corporate governance in Irish Information and Communications Technology (ICT) firms and employee stock-options in knowledge-intensive firms. More recently, Dr. Cleary has also begun to consider the potential impact of cloud computing / big data / data analytics on both management accounting and management accountants and he hopes to explore this emerging area in some detail over the next period of time.
