Biography

Dr. Pierre Lovera graduated in 2005 with a "diplome d'ingenieur" from Ecole Nationale Superieure de Grenoble (ENSPG, now known as Phelma French engineering school). He also graduated with a master in optics from Universite Joseph Fourier in the same year. He then undertook a PhD (successfully defended in 2009) in the Tyndall National Institute in Cork, investigating optical properties of conjugated polymer nanowires. He since worked as a post-doctoral researcher in the nanotechnology group in Tyndall, first developing an optical platform for electrochemiluminescence (ECL) measurements and then studying the plasmonic properties of arrays on nanohole in thin gold films. He is now a tenure researcher within the same group, with special interest in plasmonics. His expertise includes:- optical simulation via FDTD- development of new fabrication method of plasmonic nanostructrues, - investigation of new plasmonic materials, - characterisation of plasmonic nanostructures -optical and tomography- Application of nanoplasmonics samples for label-free sensing (refractive index, Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering) and novel optical application (polarised display). He has published over 30 publications in the field of optics and plamonics and currently has a h index of 8.
