Biography

Richard Kavanagh is a Senior Lecturer at the National University of Ireland, Cork where he directs the Mechatronics Research Laboratory. He has previously worked as a Senior Research Scientist with PEI Technologies, and as a Senior Project Engineer with SPS Laboratories Ltd. His current research interests include improved sensor design through advanced signal processing and the analysis of quantization effects in data acquisition systems. He also works in the areas of servosystem control, virtual reality and signal processing for digital cartography. Dr. Kavanagh is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Signal Processing Letters. He is a Chartered Engineer and is listed in Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering.

Theoretical Analysis and Design of DSP filters (Especially Differentiators) for Quantized Signals. Improved Digital Speed Sensing. Algorithms for DSP-based Motor Control. Virtual-reality-based visualization for Mechatronics education. Control and Analysis of Wind-Farms a d, Compliant Manipulators.
