Biography

Roila Mavrouli is a Lecturer in European Law and Legal Theory at University College Cork (UCC). She completed her PhD at the University of Paris Nanterre in cotutelle with the University of Luxembourg and has held research fellowships at CNRS and HEC Paris, as well as visiting fellowships at the European University Institute (EUI Florence) and the University of Turku.

She has taught in both French and English at UCC, University of Turku, University Sorbonne Nouvelle, University Sorbonne Paris Nord, University of Luxembourg, and University of Vientiane.

She also works as a Legal Consultant for the UNHCR in Paris and has collaborated on the Charterpedia project at the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA). In addition, she has practised as a lawyer and actively contributed to organisations focusing on refugee law and fundamental rights in Paris and Luxembourg.

Research Interests:
Her research focuses on European Union law, constitutionalism, legal theory, fundamental rights, and refugee law, with a particular interest in the intersection of theory and practice.

Supervision of PhD Students:
She welcomes PhD applications in all areas of European Union law and would be delighted to hear from prospective researchers interested in pursuing doctoral studies under her supervision.
