Biography

Rosa Rogers is a writer and interdisciplinary artist originally from West Yorkshire, now based in Cork, Ireland. She holds a PhD in The Contemporary Novel from the University of Kent for her debut work of literary fiction, Composition, which explores family ties and obscured truths, set against the backdrop of the contemporary art world in London and rural west of Ireland. Her work is concerned with reclaiming the experimental novel for working-class writers, drawing on interdisciplinary forms to narrate complex societal issues, and creating impactful climate storylines in digital forms, through co-design with communities.

Her short fiction, visual & digital art have appeared in The Menteur, Flash Fiction North, The Mersey Review, The Photographers' Gallery (London), Reid Hall (Paris) and as part of The Bookshop Podcast's Creative Series in Ojai, California. Rosa is the founder of Northern community projects: Poetry Etc and Tales of a Town, and former Co-Director of Vortex Gallery, where she has spent nearly a decade advocating for increased access to arts and literary education.

She is currently the Co-PI on CLIMB, a Met Éireann funded project under TRANSLATE (€1.2m). Working in an interdisciplinary team, Rosa leads the climate communication strand of this project, co-producing artistic and storytelling outputs with diverse, multi-sector and community groups. Her graphic novel Chasing the Curlew's Call / Ar Lorg Ghlao an Chrotaigh is utilised in schools and youth charities across Ireland, broadening engagement and accessible discussions about climate change and creative solutions to sustainability. Working with former colleagues at the University of Kent, she is currently producing a Virtual Reality Communication strategy to enhance multi-sector and diverse audience climate decision making, interest and engagement. She also works as a Lecturer in Creative Writing, supervising MA student projects and has recently implemented an innovative storytelling module entitled 'Interactive and Immersive Fictions'. Previously, she has worked as a Lecturer in Creative Writing in Paris, Nantes, London and Kent (2018–).
