Biography

Salvatore Tedesco (Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Information Technology Engineering and the M.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Salento, Lecce, Italy, in 2008 and 2011, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University College Cork (UCC), Cork, Ireland, in 2022.
From April 2012 to June 2025, he was with the Wireless Sensor Networks Group at the Tyndall National Institute, UCC, where he progressed to the position of Senior Scientist - Team Leader, managing a multidisciplinary research team in wearable systems and data analytics. He is currently a Lecturer with the School of Computer Science and Information Technology, University College Cork, and an Academic Member of the Tyndall National Institute.
Dr. Tedesco has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications in international journals and conference proceedings. He has secured more than €1.5 million in competitive funding as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator and has successfully managed and led over 35 industrial and research projects. 
He was the Founder and Chair of the Tyndall Early-Career Researchers Network (TEC-Net) (2020–2022) and served as Vice-President of the Young European Associated Researchers (YEAR) Network Association (2021–2025).

Research Interests

Salvatore's research interest include wearable and pervasive computing, edge intelligence, edge AI, and applied artificial intelligence, with applications in healthcare and well-being, human motion analysis in sports and clinical populations, digital health, physiological monitoring, wireless communications, agriculture technology, and Industry 4.0.
