Biography

Sayed Omid Ayat received the Ph.D. and M.Eng. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia, in 2020 and 2014, respectively. His Ph.D. research focused on energy-efficient FPGA-based neural network implementation.

He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Tyndall National Institute, Cork, Ireland. Until 2025, his work focused on the FPGA implementation of next-generation 6G wireless communication systems.

He is now involved in the PHORMIC project, where he works on the electronic control and interfacing of photonic integrated circuits (PICs). His work includes developing FPGA- and Python-based control systems for DAC/ADC interfacing and implementing closed-loop feedback systems to enable efficient optical–electrical signal conversion and system integration.
