Serhiy Yanchuk received his MSc in Theoretical Physics from the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (Technical University) in 1994, and his PhD and Doctor of Science degree in Physics and Mathematics from the Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv in 1997 and 2002, respectively. Following his PhD, he worked as a research scientist at the Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics and Humboldt University of Berlin. From 2008 to 2014, he was the head of a junior research group at HU Berlin. He held temporary professorial positions at HU Berlin (Vertretungsprofessur) in 2012 and at TU Berlin (Gastprofessor) from 2016 to 2018. From 2019 to 2023, he worked as a project leader at TU Berlin and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), Germany, as well as a Privatdozent at HU Berlin. Since 2023, he is a lecturer at University College Cork.
