Personal profile

Biography

I graduated from University College Cork with a Ph.D. (Materials Chemistry) in 2000. I researched the synthesis and characterization of periodic mesostructural silica and doped-silica materials under the supervision of Prof. M.A. Morris. From 2000 - 2019, I have worked as Contract Researcher, Post Doctoral Researcher and then Staff Researcher at Tyndall-UCC in the Research Group of Prof. Gabriel Crean and the Research Group of Prof. Martyn Pemble. My most recent research activity involved work on a number of projects involving thin-film coatings by sol-gel, aerosol-assisted CVD and ALD coating methods in the Research Group of Dr. Ian Povey. I completed the MSc (Innovation, Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship) program in the UCC- Cork University Business School (CUBS) under the direction of Dr. Brian O’Flaherty in September 2019. Since then I have had the role of CMOS++ Programme Manager in the MicroNano Systems Centre, Tyndall National Institute [Programme Lead: Dr. Giorgos Fagas] with interests in technology transfer and commercialisation of research outputs.
