Biography
Amalie Ringgaard holds an M.Sc. (2020) and a Ph.D. (2023) in Management Accounting and Control from Aalborg University Business School, Denmark.
Her research focuses on how management accounting and control practices are designed and used to facilitate and improve decision-making. By applying qualitative methods, she examines how dynamics, tensions, and perceptions shape control elements, their interrelationships, and effectiveness.
Amalie is currently working on two projects, one investigating budgeting and risk management in the banking sector, and another one studying management accounting and control in the insurance sector by adopting an interdisciplinary valuation perspective.
Amalie's research has been published in international, peer-reviewed accounting journals, such as the European Accounting Review and Management Accounting Research. She is the leading guest editor of a special issue on accounting and valuation in the Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal and has presented her work at various conferences, such as the EAA Congress, GMARS, and EIASM New Directions in Management Accounting.
Amalie has been a visiting scholar at HEC Paris, UTS Sydney, Monash Business School, and Université Laval.
She is available for Ph.D. supervision in areas related to management accounting and control, risk management, sustainability control systems, banking and insurance, as well as sociological and organisational valuation studies.
