Biography

Dr. Stephen McCarthy is a Senior Lecturer in Information Systems at University College Cork (UCC), Ireland. His research centres on three areas: (i) digital innovation networks, (ii) responsible and sustainable information systems, and (iii) human-centred IT design. Stephen has published articles in leading peer-reviewed journals such as Information Systems Journal, The Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Internet Research, Information Systems Frontiers, Information Technology & People, and Computers in Human Behavior. He is a distinguished member of the AIS and a recipient of the UCC President's Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and a researcher of the year award from the College of Business and Law. Stephen serves as an Associate Editor for Communications of the Association for Information Systems, the Journal of Decision Systems, and as a Guest Editor for the Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems. He has regularly presented and acted as an Associate Editor at premier conferences in the IS field including the International Conference on Information Systems, Hawaii International Conference on Systems Science, and European Conference on Information Systems. Stephen currently serves as a co-director of the MSc Business Analytics programme at Cork University Business School, UCC and is Programme Chair Elect of the Special Interest Group on Decision Support and Analytics (Association for Information Systems). In terms of collaborations, Stephen has been involved in projects to the value of over €3 million, working with organisations such as IBM, Laya Healthcare, the Health Service Executive (Ireland), the Danish Board of Technology, Missions Publiques (France), and Strategic Design Scenarios (Belgium). These industry collaboration projects have been supported by funding bodies such as the European Commission, Science Foundation Ireland,
