Biography
Steve Prestwich has lectured in the Computer Science department since1997 and is a member of the Cork Constraint Computation Centre. From1996-7 he was a Senior Software Research Engineer at the AdvancedTechnology Centre, Nortel PLC, Harlow Laboratories, England. From198996 he was a Researcher at the European Computer-Industry ResearchCentre (ECRC), Munich, Germany. From 19854-8 he took an MSc and PhDin Computer Science at the University of Manchester, UK. From 1981-04he was a Software Engineer at Ferranti Computer Systems PLC,Manchester, UK. From 1979-81 he took a BA (Hons) Mathematics atSt. Peter's College, University of Oxford, UK.
Research Interests
Steve works on Constraint Programming, Boolean Satisfiability (SAT),Artificial Intelligence, reasoning under uncertainty, evolutionarysearch, local search, hybrid search, problem modeling, and symmetry.
Teaching Activities
I have taught and developed courses on artificial intelligence, optimization, programming (C, Java, Pascal), databases, multimedia, and web technologies.
