Biography

Tamara Vagg is a multidisciplinary Research Fellow with the Cystic Fibrosis Adult Day Unit in the Cork University Hospital and University College Cork. Tamara's current research focuses on Digital Health Literacy for telehealth to support people with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and the CF care team.

Tamara is a co-founder and the current co-ordinator of the ECFS Telehealth for CF Working Group (THCF), starting in 2023. As of 2022, Tamara works part-time with the Cystic Fibrosis Registry of Ireland. Tamara is also a member of the EU Digital Competency (DigComp) Community of Practice (CoP), IEEE Consumer Technology Society (CTSoc): Consumer Systems for Healthcare and Wellbeing (CSH), and the European Respiratory Society (ERS) CONNECT CRC Network. 

Tamara’s previous research (PhD & Postdocs) has focused on Virtual Reality, Gamification/Serious Games, Interactive 3D, Educational Animations, Mobile Multimedia, mHealth, and eHealth for Cystic Fibrosis and other areas in medicine and healthcare. Tamara successfully defended her multidisciplinary PhD in March of 2018 under the supervision of Prof Barry Plant and Dr Sabin Tabirca, which was funded by CFMATTERS. She is also a graduate of the MSc in Interactive Media from University College Cork, and of the BA in Visual Communications from Waterford Institute of Technology.
