Biography

Tony is Professor of General Practice in UCC and works as a GP in Kinsale. He is a GP Trainer on the Cork Specialist Training Programme for General Practice. His interests include dementia care, dermatology and interprofessional education. He has been the lead for a community-based dementia project, Kinsale Community Response to Dementia (KCoRD) which developed individualized services and supports for people with dementia. He was PI for PREPARED (Primary Care Education, Pathways & Research of Dementia), a 3-year national primary care dementia project, which supported GPs and Primary Care Team members in their delivery of integrated dementia care in the community. He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Panel of the The Alzheimer Society of Ireland and is a member of the National Dementia Strategy Programme Implementation Board. Tony's MD thesis focused on the design, development and evaluation of an educational intervention to improve the quality of dementia care in General Practice.
