Biography

Senior Lecturer, Business Information System, Cork University Business School, University College Cork.

Research Interests

The goal of my research is to understand how Information Systems can be designed and used ethically and responsibly in everyday life. This includes examining digital consent processes, dark patterns and AI. My research also considers how health care is delivered and how it might be improved by introducing IS; identifying barriers and facilitators to mHealth pre- and post-implementation; investigating the decision making process of both direct and indirect users of digital health; exploring health-related outcomes associated with clinical decision support systems, examining digital health from a developed and developing world context and investigating the electronic consent (eConsent) process of online fora, including those who are living with dementia.

I have contributed to the extension of existing theories focusing on Health Information Systems implementation. I have also been lead UI/UX analyst for a number of mobile health projects. This work involves prototyping and designing graphic user interfaces (GUIs). I have delivered several presentations at international and national conferences and has published in high impact peer-reviewed journals in the Health Informatics and Information Systems domains.

I currently serve on the Editorial Board of three journals - Health Policy & Technology, International Journal of Reliable and Quality E-Healthcare and Frontiers in Digital Health. I am a reviewer for top journals and conferences; namely, Journal of Medical Internet Research, European Conference of Information Systems, International Conference of Information Systems, Information Technology and People and Computers in Human Behaviour.
