Dr Zubair Kabir is a Senior Lecturer in Public Health since 2012 in UCC and was the Academic Director (2015-2025) of the flagship program- the Master of Public Health (MPH) campus at the School of Public Health- APHEA-accredited institution, and also the highest ranking School of Public Health on the island of Ireland. He has successfully completed the PG Certificate (2014) and the PG Diploma (2020) in Higher Teaching & Learning (CIRTL) from UCC. He is a Senior Collaborator and the country lead on the most comprehensive epidemiologic study - the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study since 2016 contributing to 90+ high impact GBD-related peer-reviewed publications. He has ore thatn 150,000 citations to date. 

Dr Kabir's two core research areas are: tobacco control and alcohol policy research- advancing the discipline of population health science. In recognition of his 20+ years population health research experience, the Irish Minister for Health appointed him as a member of the newly established Health Research Consent Declaration Committee (HRCDC) in 2019 for 6 years. Dr Kabir is the founding and current Editor-in-Chief of the Open Access Sage journal- Tobacco Use Insights since 2008.
