Abstract
Based on a questionnaire survey of 54 Chinese language teachers in Ireland, this paper analyzes the current status, main challenges, and optimization strategies for the development of Chinese teaching resources in Ireland. The study finds that Chinese teaching resources in Ireland heavily rely on Confucius Institutes, with a high concentration and noticeable homogenization in textbook usage. Teachers generally rate the practicality and difficulty appropriateness of existing resources as acceptable, but commonly highlight issues such as insufficient exercises and a lack of supporting materials. There is a strong demand for spoken language textbooks and short-video-based digital resources. The study suggests systematically optimizing Chinese teaching resources in Ireland through the development of country-specific textbooks, the construction of digital resources, the enhancement of teacher training, and the establishment of a platform for educational exchange between China and Ireland.
