A contrast source inversion scheme for imaging acoustic contrast

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

In this paper we present an inversion method which allows the reconstruction of density and compressibility profiles from measured scattered acoustic pressure and velocity data. The imaging method is based on a complete three-dimensional vectorial description of the acoustic wave fields. A conjugate gradient scheme is used to solve the corresponding integral equations iteratively. In order to regularize the inverse problem, a contrast source formulation is used. Good results are obtained with this novel imaging method when tested on synthetic data.
