N2 - This paper presents an overview of the Low Voltage Direct Current (LVDC) networks classification, paradigms, schemes, main technical solutions, equipment and technologies. Based on a literature survey, some of the most significant hindering factors for the widespread implementation of LVDC are outlined. Taking into account the current state of the art LVDC networks and gaps present, an analysis of the main future trends is performed. Furthermore, this study identifies difficulties and potential trends for LVDC adoption.
