Abstract
This paper presents a roadmap for research into sonification for Internet of Sounds (IoS) contexts. The roadmap is built on top of a taxonomic framework whose dimensions are informed by the auditory display and internet of sounds literature along with the related field of sound and music computing. The taxonomy intends to demarcate the potential boundaries of IoS sonification. The roadmap lays out potential areas for future research across 5 components: technical infrastructure, design and evaluation, creative musical and artistic practices, critical and ethical dimensions. The taxonomy and roadmap provide an initial step towards developing IoS sonification as a distinct research strand, an argument that is made in the paper and supported by the taxonomy and roadmap.
