Acorns, the Plague, and the 'Iona Chronicle'

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

When continuators of the so-called 'Iona Chronicle' contributed entries concerning great crops of mast they did so in accordance with a tradition that began with the mistaken paraphrase and transcription into this text of a notice originally describing a pestis glandularia, an outbreak of bubonic plague, rather than a glut of acorns.
