Ageing studies on red-emitting VCSELs for polymer optical fibre applications

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Aging studies on vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSEL) for polymer optical fiber applications were conducted. AlGaInP/AlGaAs VCSELs were fabricated on wafers from two different MOCVD sources. Type I VCSELs were made from wafers sourced from a large commercial epitaxy provider and type II devices were from wafers grown. It was shown that there are great differences in accelerated aging tests of the devices.
