An FPGA implementation of a flexible secure elliptic curve cryptography processor

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingsChapterpeer-review

Abstract

In this paper algorithms and hardware architectures for a flexible elliptic curve cryptographic processor for arbitrary elliptic curves over Galois fields GF(2m) are presented. The processor is suitable for smart card implementation and due to the flexibility of architecture it allows for frequent changes of the system security parameters. It has as its core a novel method of performing arithmetic in GF(2m). The implementation results and design trade-offs of such a processor in comparison to more traditional implementations are discussed.
