Abstract

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book describes the digital lives of young people, and explores the Digital Competence Framework. It discusses the concept of digital wellbeing, and examines the concept of values fluency. The book shows how design thinking might be used to tackle the wicked problem of digital wellbeing education. It highlights the actual design thinking process used by the authors’ process. The book also shows the development of the values compass. It considers how the values compass can be applied to solving values dilemmas using design thinking approaches. The book provides the reader with a unique guide to how to teach the five Dig Comp skills to student, bringing theories and pedagogical practices of values fluency ‘to life’ by using a design thinking approach when analysing values dilemmas.
