Abstract

This educational innovation project examines the integration of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) into postgraduate Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) education. It describes the design and delivery of a targeted teaching session alongside a structured written assessment aimed at developing students’ critical understanding of AI applications in IPC practice. The assessment requires learners to evaluate the effectiveness of AI in supporting standard and transmission-based precautions within their own clinical settings.
The study introduces a novel GenAI Assessment Scale, which defines permissible levels of AI use in academic work, ensuring ethical engagement while preserving academic integrity. Students are required to critically reflect on key challenges associated with AI adoption, including data quality and bias, workflow integrat
