Abstract
Crystals of Ca12Al14O33 about 5 cm long and 1.8 cm diameter have been grown using the Czochralski technique and their piezoelectric, elastic and dielectric properties determined as a function of temperature. It has been shown that the material is unlikely to possess a cut with a zero temperature coefficient of delay for either bulk or surface wave propagation, although its high bulk wave velocities and reasonable piezoelectric coupling could make it interesting for these applications.
