Abstract

Aluminium and aluminium-magnesium alloys can be electropolished using electrolytes based on phosphoric and sulphuric acids. The reflectance of the surface is a function of current density in the range 10 to 30 A/dm2 and also depends on electrolyte composition. Brightness or reflectance can also be correlated with initial surface roughness.
