Abstract
This chapter deals with the cultural diversity in sexual behavior regarding sex before marriage, masturbation, and homosexual behavior in the Latino-Catholic community in the United States. Using scientific data, Church teachings, and biblical passages, I explore the diversity in sexual attitudes and behavior in three different groups: the defenders, the rejecters, and the dreamers. I show how sexual behavior and the so-called sexual phenomena or revolution have been shaped by the threefold “sisters,” Church, science, and scripture, and the rapid changes in American society in which the Latino Catholics have emerged. I intend to create a sense of belonging and sensitivity and invite readers to a genuine reflection to create a more harmonious sexual culture, respecting human integrity as well as Catholic identity.
