Abstract

The paper describes the design and development of the Model 430 helicopter using Integrated Product Teams (IPT). The helicopter configuration is summarized briefly followed by the rationale used to formulate the IPTs. The importance of program planning is discussed, with illustrations of the planning and tracking process used on the Model 430 program. Performance to the plan is documented and several examples of the benefits of the IPT approach in reducing cost and schedule are present.
