Abstract
Our contemporary international superpowers or necropowers, which means the power to decide who may live and who must die (Mbembe, 2003), severely influences not only the development process, particularly in the international level, but also other aspects of our life such as borders, movements and migration policies. As a result of this, people worldwide face a prolonged crisis, conflict and war which lead to mass migration. This paper employs sociological and anthropological theories and concepts to discuss briefly the link between development, migration and modern slavery.
