Development of smart radio wireless sensing solutions for automotive applications

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingsChapterpeer-review

Abstract

This work reports on the development of a smart radio wireless sensing platform addressing some key challenges of existing wired networks for automotive sensing. A wireless sensor with a smart RF Front-end is presented that allows access to both the 433 MHz and 868 MHz ISM bands and offers improved reliability and quality of service (QoS) compared to existing 2.45 GHz solutions. Unlike existing dual-band radio systems where a radio transceiver is required for each frequency band, the present solution uses a reconfigurable RF front-end and a single radio transceiver that can be adaptively switched between frequency bands.
