Abstract

This book provides a retrospective consideration of the work of Edna O’Brien, one of the twentieth-century’s best-selling authors. Using the author’s works of fiction, as well as archival material, this study considers the ways in which O’Brien represents women’s experience, family relationships, the natural world, mythology, sex, creativity, and death.
