Effect of ultrasound on leaching of tannic acid from tea and its modeling

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

An elegant approach was used to leach tannic acid from tea leaves. The leaching of the tannic acid from tea powder using different solvents was performed using an ultrasonication method. Moreover, the extraction of solvents was compared using a soxhlet apparatus. The leaching process was modeled using the concept of thin film, which provides the resistance to transfer. The model was found to be fit for the comparison of methods for the leaching of tannic acid from the tea powder and it is intended to extend its use to calculate the mass transfer coefficients for different conditions.
