Effects of Feedback Asymmetry in External-Cavity Semiconductor Laser Systems

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

We present the first systematic study of the effects of feedback asymmetry, as determined by misalignment of an external mirror, on the characteristics of external-cavity semiconductor lasers. Particular attention has been paid to output power, intensity noise and optical spectrum. We have observed and explained undulations in power as a function of external mirror tilt as well as regimes in which complex noise spectra occur.
