Abstract
Some of the data were incorrectly entered on the spreadsheets. We have replaced the electronic supplementary material and here we provide a corrected version of table 1. There are also some errors in the text. The first sentence of $2 should read 21 specimens instead of 25. At the end of the first paragraph of $3, R2 = 0.82 for A. cummingsi, not 0.75. In the second paragraph of $3, the number for Limulus is 674 not 680. In the fifth paragraph of $3, the IOA in A. cummingsi ranges from 1.5° not 1.8° later in the same paragraph, that for Limulus ranges from 1.8° not 1.7° and that for Eurypterus ranges to 1.7° not 1.8°. In the final paragraph of $3, the values of P for A. cummingsi range to 16 not 17 and those for Eurypterus range from 0.5 not 0.4. These errors do not alter the conclusions of the paper.
