Abstract

The capture of a specimen of the bluefish–Pomatomus saltatrix, (L. 1758) off Ballycotton, Co. Cork, Ireland (Lat. 8°W, Long. 51°50′N) is reported. Some diagnostic features and measurements of the specimen are given. This would appear to be the first record of the species for the Eastern Atlantic, north of Spain.
