Abstract
This paper explores the intertwining themes of friendship and contemplation in Francisco de Aldana's poetic epistle to Arias Montano, examining how Florentine neoplatonism informs the poem's structure and content. It analyzes the stages of the contemplative journey Aldana outlines, the use of metaphorical images, and the significance of repetition in articulating spiritual transformation. The implications of these themes are discussed in reference to Aldana's personal struggles and philosophical inspirations.
