Gambling in the Republic of Ireland: Results from the 2019–20 National Drug and Alcohol Survey

This bulletin presents the findings from the 2019–20 National Drug and Alcohol Survey (NDAS) on the prevalence of gambling and problem gambling in the general population in Ireland. While the main objective of the 2019–20 NDAS was to determine the prevalence and patterns of drug use (including alcohol and tobacco use), a set of questions on gambling in Ireland was included in the survey at the request of the Department of Justice. The NDAS is the only source of general population prevalence data on gambling in Ireland. The 2019–20 NDAS collected information from 5,762 people aged 15 years and over across Ireland. The main findings in relation to tobacco, alcohol, and other drug use from the 2019–20 NDAS were published in 2021. The aim of this bulletin is to present the findings from the 2019–20 NDAS in relation to gambling.
