Abstract
Under the ceasefire ‘agreement’ announced in October 2025, Israel is required to allow hundreds of thousands of tents and mobile shelters into Gaza for those who have lost their homes. This has not happened. This essay argues that home-making is a race-making project and that settler colonialism is a racial project with home at its centre, conditioned by logics of construction and destruction to produce extreme residential segregation, replacement and domination, and the debasing of the human personality. Thinking race through home amid settler colonialism, this essay asks: When will Gazans hold a key, and unlock the front door to their own homes again?
