Abstract

The aims of the expedition were to carry out detailed ecological and other investigations north of Germania Land at 77°40′N 20°51′W; to investigate the breeding biology and summer ecology of the barnacle goose Branta leucopsis in its most northerly known breeding location in Greenland; to investigate the flora and the ecology of certain plant species; to establish detailed ecological baseline levels of certain long range pollutants; to carry out general observations on the mammal and bird populations in the area; and to trap and mark breeding and non-breeding geese to establish their distribution throughout their wintering range in Ireland and Scotland and to provide continuing information on their population dynamics. -from Authors
