Abstract

Through variation of the chemical route, a conjugated co-polymer has been prepared in a predominantly cis-configuration and a predominantly trans configuration respectively. Pump and probe Kerr ellipsometry is used to probe the behaviour of each in solution compared to a model trimer compound. The results indicate that isomerism plays an important part in the excited state dynamics of these materials in solution.
