Abstract
ITAV is a community-led, school-based initiative dedicated to support the well-being of primary school children. Established in 2023 by all eight primary schools in Greystones and Delgany, County Wicklow, the initiative emerged in response to rising anxiety levels in young children. ITAV’s mission is to empower children, parents, guardians, and teachers by building a community of services that deliver essential well-being and digital awareness skills by focusing on collaboration, innovative workshops, and practical support. Among its strategic goals, ITAV promotes a voluntary no-smartphone code, alongside initiatives to upskill schools and parents on children's well-being and digital literacy, ultimately aiming for a more resilient and thriving community. This evaluation initiative employed a mixed-method approach to assess its processes, outcomes, and potential impact within a short timeframe. The research incorporated qualitative data from interviews with principals, teachers, ITAV team members, and focus groups with parents and children, alongside quantitative and demographic data on ITAV activities throughout the school year.
