Liquids Inspection via Visible to Near Infrared to Short-Wave Infrared Bands Linear High Dynamic Range Capability Smart CAOS Camera

Abstract

For the first time, a new camera technology called Smart CAOS (Coded Access Optical Sensor) is explored for liquids testing. This single camera unit can simultaneously generate visible, Near-Infrared (NIR) and Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR) bands linear high dynamic range (HDR) images of transparent test liquids for relative discrimination via vision processing. CAOS imaging experiments conducted with a 360 nm to 2500 nm halogen lamp source successfully discriminate between water, acetone and ethanol.
