Abstract
The measurement of individual differences in HCI is an important yet under-researched topic. In this chapter, we outline the importance of the evaluation of individual differences in HCI research and describe methods for doing so. We focus on attitudes to Internet relationships, and attitudes to the Internet in general, as two important constructs for consideration in usability research and design. The chapter concludes with an overview of how these scales can highlight individual differences in Internet users, and how the scales can be applied and utilized to inform future research and design.
