Multi-wavelength 2×2 fiber-optic switch structure using mirror array

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

A retroflective 2×2 fiber optic switch has been experimentally demonstrated using a Michelson interferometer with translational motion mirrors. The switch provides a low average optical loss of 2.67 dB and an average optical crosstalk of -24.38 dB within a 50 nm bandwidth. Because of the analog motion nature of the mirrors, this switch also forms a variable attenuator.
