Some topics discussed are the following: the nutritional value of mushrooms; the growing systems (the one-zone system, the two-zone system, the bed system, the tray system, the plastic bag system, and other minor systems); substrate preparation (basic requirements, materials used for substrate preparation, and solid state fermentation with undefined mixed culture system); the growth of mycelium and the mushroom; and some engineering and technology considerations.
